Calibration

The Breath Analyzer Measurement Laboratory, operating within TransCom International, is a specialized unit with one of the longest accreditation histories in Poland. Since 2004, we have been setting standards in breath analyzer metrology.

Key Competencies and Certification:
PCA Accreditation: We have continuously held Accreditation Certificate No.
AP 071, issued by the Polish Center for Accreditation, since 2004.
Quality Standards: Our management system and all testing procedures are fully compliant with the current standard PN-EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018-02.
Specialization: We focus on precise calibration in the mass concentration range (breath analysis) for all types of breath analyzers produced by Intoximeters. Why our laboratory? By choosing Laboratory AP 071, you gain confidence that the calibration process is carried out by an independent, impartial unit with an established market position.
Our calibration certificates are a recognized document confirming measurement consistency.

1 Calibration / Verification

Many people mistakenly believe that calibration serves to "tune" the device.
In reality, it is an exclusively comparative process that can confirm the reliability of your device.
Currently, the terms calibration and verification are treated as synonyms and mean the same metrological action. Key facts: Definition: Calibration / Verification is the establishment of a relationship between the indication of the instrument and the value of the standard (including the determination of measurement uncertainty).
Purpose: Ensuring measurement consistency, i.e., linking device results to official standards.
Result: Issuance of a calibration certificate with a table of results (reference value, average of measurements, and uncertainty).
It is worth remembering: calibration itself does not include repair or interference with the device mechanism – it is only a confirmation of its current metrological state performed under laboratory conditions.

2 Adjustment

The concept of adjustment is very often confused with calibration (verification), but in metrology it means a completely different process.
While calibration only states the condition of the instrument, adjustment involves a specific technical action. Key facts: Definition: Adjustment is a set of actions intended to bring a measuring instrument to a state of operation consistent with its purpose and required accuracy.
Purpose: Eliminating systematic errors or minimizing them through physical or software intervention in the device mechanism.
Result: An instrument that indicates values as close as possible to the true (reference) values across the full operating range.
Remember: Adjustment is the "setting" of an instrument, after which re-calibration should always follow to confirm that the changes produced the expected effect and the device measures correctly.

3 Technical Service

Technical Service is a comprehensive process of preparing and checking the device, going beyond metrology alone.
It guarantees that the breathalyzer is not only functional but also safe and ready for operation in all conditions for the next 6 months with no test limit. Key facts: Definition: A set of technical activities including diagnostics, maintenance, and replacement of worn parts and components of the device, completed with adjustment and a series of accuracy tests.
Purpose: Restoring full breathalyzer functionality, extending its lifespan, properly establishing measurement characteristics, and ensuring compliance with manufacturer parameters.
Result: A device after periodic inspection, cleaning, and software update, prepared for further, trouble-free operation.
Remember: Only service performed by manufacturer-authorized specialists for a given model using only original spare parts ensures the device retains its technical parameters and does not fail at a critical moment.
